A beautiful, scarce regionally resident that occurs in damp grassland and boggy areas. Not to be confused with the rare Pearl-bordered Fritillary as the later does not exist in the region. The Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary has a preference for damp places with the caterpillar food plants being Common Dog and Marsh Violets.
