Green-veined White

A very common butterfly. They enjoy damp places by streams, drainage ditches, water meadows and hedgerows where wild crucifers, the caterpillar food plants, occur. They have subtle markings on the upper wings but are distinguished from Small Whites by the greenish-grey 'veins' on the under wings. Food plants include, Cuckoo flowers (or Lady's Smock), Garlic mustard (or Jack-by-the-hedge).
