A small rich brown, butterfly with tiny orange crescents (lunules) near the outer wing edges. Found on open, sunny, short, rough grassland. The Common Blue female can cause confusion but normally shows a blue colouration on the upperside of the wings and is larger. Food plants: Rockrose on chalk soils, and geranium sp. such as Dove's-foot Cranesbill on neutral or acid soils.
